2 Baba reveals love inspired his surprise appreance on “Young, Famous & African”
In an interview, Nigerian music icon 2Baba opened up about his unexpected venture into the world of reality television, admitting that the power of love was the driving force behind his debut on Netflix’s hit show “Young, Famous & African.”
The veteran singer, whose real name is Innocent Idibia, confessed that he had never been a regular viewer of reality TV programs before his participation. “I don’t watch reality TV, I didn’t do any research before and I never pictured myself in any reality TV stuff,” 2Baba revealed during the Game Changer Series interview with FEP Events & Creatives.
However, the “African Queen” hitmaker acknowledged that matters of the heart can compel one to step outside their comfort zone. “I never thought I’d be in one, but love makes you do things,” he said, alluding to his wife, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, who also starred in the show.
Describing his experience on the groundbreaking African reality series, 2Baba found the process of bringing the production to life “quite interesting.” But the seasoned performer admitted that maintaining his authentic self proved to be a challenge. “My problem is I don’t know how to not be real in a reality show so I think I was the most boring person in that whole setup,” he quipped.
The inaugural season of “Young, Famous & African,” which debuted in 2022, featured a diverse assemblage of stars from across the continent, including South Africa’s Khanyi Mbau, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, and Uganda’s Zari the Boss Lady, among others.
