Court Apprehends $4.7m (N830m) and Other Properties From Immediate Past CBN Governor Emefiele Godwin

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has requested a break relinquishment of the amounts of $4,719,054 (N830,875,611), and a few properties connected to the previous governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

Justice Yellim Bogoro made the request on Thursday, May 23, 2024, following an ex-parte application by direction to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Bilkisu Buhari.

Subsequent to standing by listening to the EFCC Advice, Justice Bogoro in her decision said: “I have paid attention to the accommodation of the candidate’s direction and furthermore examined the movement recently moved, along with the testimony in help.

The EFCC had moved toward the court for an interval relinquishment of the monies and properties, under Segment 17 of the Development Expense Extortion and Other Misrepresentation Related Offense Act. 14 2006, Section 44(2)(b) of the Constitution and under the innate ward of the court.
