Court Apprehends $4.7m (N830m) and Other Properties From Immediate Past CBN Governor Emefiele Godwin
The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has requested a break relinquishment of the amounts of $4,719,054 (N830,875,611), and a few properties connected to the previous governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
Justice Yellim Bogoro made the request on Thursday, May 23, 2024, following an ex-parte application by direction to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Bilkisu Buhari.
Subsequent to standing by listening to the EFCC Advice, Justice Bogoro in her decision said: “I have paid attention to the accommodation of the candidate’s direction and furthermore examined the movement recently moved, along with the testimony in help.
“I find merit in the application and same is thusly allowed as supplicated.
“The candidate ought to distribute this request in any everyday paper circling all around the federation for anyone with any interest to show cause why the last request of relinquishment ought not be made. Case concluded to July 2, for movement for definite relinquishment.”

Others are One plot estimating 1,038.069 sqm, at Lekki Foreshore Home Plan, Block A, Plot 4, Foreshore Bequest, Eti-Osa, LGA; Domain situated at 100, Cottonwood Coppel Texas Drive, Coppel, Texas, Possessed by Lipam speculation Administrations; a Land at 1, Bunmi Owulude Road, (Maruwa), Lekki Stage 1, Lagos and a Property Arrange on 8, Bayo Kuku Street, lkoyi Lagos.
The EFCC had moved toward the court for an interval relinquishment of the monies and properties, under Segment 17 of the Development Expense Extortion and Other Misrepresentation Related Offense Act. 14 2006, Section 44(2)(b) of the Constitution and under the innate ward of the court.
