Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project Hold Transparent Bid Opening for Infrastructure Interventions

The Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (KOGI-RAAMP) has successfully conducted the bid opening for the construction of 106.36 km of roads under the backlog maintenance/rehabilitation intervention, as well as the 66-meter cross drainage structures intervention. The event was marked by a commitment to transparency and adherence to the procurement guidelines stipulated by the World Bank.

The bid opening process, which was held in the presence of prospective bidders, representatives from the State Bureau of Public Procurement, and civil society organizations, was hailed as a testament to the project’s commitment to transparency and adherence to the highest standards of procurement ethics.

The bid opening process was meticulously planned and executed, with the advertisement for the request for tenders published in national dailies, allowing for a wide pool of qualified bidders to participate. 

Addressing the gathered stakeholders, the State Project Coordinator Engineer Sheidu Obansa Adamu while applauding the bidders for their painstaking efforts in submitting their proposals and emphasized the project’s unwavering adherence to the procurement guidelines stipulated by the World Bank, ensuring a level playing field and a transparent process throughout.

“This is a landmark moment for the people of Kogi State,” said Engineer Sheidu Obansa Adamu, the State Project Coordinator for KOGIRUAMP. “The successful completion of these infrastructure interventions will have a transformative impact on the lives of our rural communities, improving their access to markets, essential services, and economic opportunities.”

“We have made a solemn commitment to the people of Kogi State to deliver these infrastructure projects with the utmost integrity and accountability,” Obansa stated. “The open and fair manner in which this bid opening was conducted is a testament to our dedication to these principles” Engineer Obansa added.

The highlight of the event was the commencement of the bid opening for the two interventions, which was met with enthusiastic applause from the bidders and the representative of the civil society organization. 

The civil society representative expressed satisfaction and confidence in the process, describing it as “credible and fair” due to the level playing field observed.

This bid opening process marks the second significant milestone for the KOGI-RAAMP, as it follows the successful bid opening for the 65.25 km of roads under the backlog maintenance/rehabilitation intervention, which was held in April this year.
